LACE Wins CSW Pride Parade Award

The Ladies' Auxiliary for Cultural Enrichment recently learned they had been chosen as the "Best Decorated Vehicle Award" winner in the 2005 Christopher Street West Pride Parade.

According to an official letter from CWS Parade Vice President, Jimmy Blackley, LACE was selected from over 120 parade entries as the "primary decorated vehicle (under 20 feet) entry that best captured this year's parade theme."

Wearing their new "Safe Sex Suffragette" sashes, "Edna, Agnes, Pearl and Maud" drove their trademark chair scooters which were custom-equipped with emergency revolving lights and toy sirens along with black lace-trimmed banners which read, "Stop Supervirus, excercise your right to be responsible!"

According to Blackley, this year's parade attendance was over 300,000 people with over one million people viewing the parade by broadcast in their homes. "LACE and its supporters really stood out among the crowd that day!" Blackley stated in the letter which also contained an award check for $500.

Congratulations, Ladies!
